Matthew also advises clients who are planning on moving to the US, planning on leaving the US, or who have US investments (e.g. US real estate, US private equity).

Matthew has lived in France and Switzerland for over twenty years, consequently, he has accumulated extensive knowledge of European tax and immigration issues.

This knowledge allows him to provide a holistic/ pan-European strategy to his clients.

He also regularly advises on how families can use funds, trusts, foundations, and insurance structures to optimize their tax situations.

Clients consider Matthew to be extremely practical, commercial and yet strategic. Matthew is able to simplify complex tax, succession, and structuring issues into manageable and understandable solutions for clients which means that clients understand a strategy which is advocated and ultimately implemented.

Matthew is originally from the US, and attended Baylor University, Vanderbilt University and New York University for his undergraduate and legal education.

Along with other colleagues at Helm, he has founded a firm that assembles similarly minded and highly skilled advisers focused on US tax and compliance, UK tax and compliance, trusts, life and captive insurance planning, CRS/FATCA compliance, and art as an asset.
